Organic agriculture

[en] The processes of feeding and animal keeping are more sensitive for animals and nature as in the area of convencional meat production and underlie strict restrictions.

In the following we present a shortcut of the most important principals of animal keeping in organic agriculture:

Feed

In the cultivation of organic cereal the use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides ist forbidden. Instead natural fertilizers are used, as far as posible liquid  manure from the own farm.  Crop rotation helps to avoid that the soil gets leached out. The animals receive high-quality organic feed. Genetically modified  feed, amino acids synthetical, antibiotica and growth promoters are forbidden.

Animal keeping

Animals con an organic farm have more space as in convencional animal keeping.

Pigs have more space available can perceive rain, sun, wind and smells outside. The stables have to have day light and fresh air offering the animals the posibility for a behaviour typical for their species. It´s forbidden to cut tails and teeths.

Bovine animals in organic keeping receive fresh clover and crushed grain instead of crushed soy and mais silage like in conventional keeping.

Transportation of animals

Stress in transportation to the slaughterhouse has to be kept very low. The animals have to have access to fresh water during the whole transport and the use of synthetic tranquilizers and other stimulans is forbidden.

Slaughtering

The slaughtering has to be organized as careful as posible and the use of electric shocks is not allowed.
